Based around the themes of his book, “Supreme emergency: How Britain lives with the Bomb”, Dr Andy Corbett will explore the history of the UK nuclear deterrent and how the governments of the day presented it to the public: from the response to the Zeppelin raids on London in 1915, he will discuss policy during the Second World War, the Cold War and present day, considering the ethics as much as technology and strategy, and how the government places the debate in the public arena.
